Geology Society Minute Book (1965-1980)

This is a copy of the UCD Geology Society’s first Minute Book. It covers the period 1965-1980.

The first meeting of the Society took place on a platform at Donabate station in February 1965. The Society sought recognition from both the President’s Office and the SRC on 1 March. Recognition was granted by the President’s Office on 7 March. The SRC did not approve the application till 11 May. The minute book notes that the delay was “not due to any objection raised by the council but due to the inefficiency of a council which has no meeting in the period January - May.”

The Society applied for and was awarded its first grant by the Finance Committee of the College for the 1965/66 session. The amount granted was £30.
